Economics for Empowerment Summer Seminar
2024

Twenty-three teachers gathered for a weeklong residential “Economics for Empowerment” seminar in June. Against the background of the Pacific Ocean, the teachers engaged in simulations, discussions, activities and lectures. Conclusions from teacher evaluations attest to the success of the seminar.

Teachers Sharpening Their Skills

Elevate Your Teaching with High Quality Professional Development!

Immerse yourself in a transformative learning experience with our Economics for Empowerment seminar. Over the course of a week, teachers engaged in 40 hours of intensive professional development, guided by a roster of state and nationally awarded instructors. This was their chance to sharpen their skills through collaborative sessions, innovative lessons, hands-on activities, and engaging simulations. We know the program helped teachers refine teaching techniques, exchange ideas with peers, and left with a toolkit of resources designed to invigorate the economics classroom.

Unique Program Philosophy

Teaching Economics with Impact: Our Philosophy of 'Economics for Empowerment'

Our seminar is built on the philosophy that economics should be taught in a way that resonates personally and meaningfully with students. The 'Economics for Empowerment' approach emphasizes Economic Reasoning concepts that empower students to see themselves as their most valuable resource in making informed decisions. By focusing on real-world applications and personal relevance, we aim to equip students with the skills they need to achieve their goals and navigate their futures confidently. Our mission was to teach how to bring this philosophy to life in the classroom!

Teacher Testimonials

I would tell them that this will truly change the way they look at Economics. I have been to many conferences and not a single one did more for me than this conference. It was so good. I would have paid CASET to attend this. The amount of knowledge, content exposure, tools, props and talent/ creativity from the instructors was mind blowing.
